The problem isnt the lack of adequate free software, the problem is prominent developers and popular tools which demand and rely on proprietary software and languages like Microsofts VBA and Office APIs, such as the 'spreadsheet' you mentioned. The website generates a unique URL for each sheet that you can cut, copy, or send to others. But, it doesn’t require an account for use. I didn't have this issue when I tried the Office 365 trial. Like Google Sheets, EtherCalc is an online-based, free software. It seems to shift images out of place and stretch them.

WPS also prints/exports to PDF strangely with the character creator.
No macros being the biggest issue I've noticed so far for what I want to do. The first two can't even open it, and WPS has reduced functionality without a premium subscription (I don't know if there is a one-time payment option, but even if there is, I don't know if it would work the way I want).
